This session was fun, and also tense. I had the opportunity to present The Deep Blue Giant book to the teens at the Boys&Girls club of Willowbrook/Watts. Some were more out spoken than others, some I can tell wanted to make comments but were shy, some just looked but they were all engaged. I entertained any questions they had and offered any helpful advice I could. After the event, I wondered if I was too intense or tough with them but then I received a letter of thanks from the teen director. Then I dropped off some copies to the club. I'll share some of it with y'all.

"Your book, Deep Blue Giant resonated with the Club members. The story of adapting and undergoing change from one environment to another is critical to their thinking. Majority of our Club members live in Watts/Willowbrook and Compton communities and as a result, they face social and economical hardship. Your story emphasizes the importance of courage, persistence, and acceptance of self-identity. These are all aspects of life that all youths need in order to find success and happiness"
